Retirement of Professor David Walker – event on 12 January 2018

David Walker stepped down from clinical practice at the end of December 2017.  He has had a long career in Nottingham having arrived here as a student in 1972.  David has been at the forefront of developing the tertiary services for Paediatric Oncology here in Nottingham and has an international reputation in research and care of children with malignant disease.  He has also had a major role in teaching, clinical trials and charitable work.

We are planning an event to celebrate his career on Friday 12th January 2018 in Lecture Theatre 3, level A Medical School (within NUH campus)

We have put together the following programme for that day:

15:00 to 17:00            Presentations

Topics of interest to David – and what lies ahead.

v  The Medical School – Professor Helen Budge

v  Teaching and Education within Child Health – Professor Alan Smyth

v  Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre – Professor Richard Grundy

v  Neuro-imaging Studies – Dr Rob Dineen

v  HeadSmart – Dr Sophie Wilne

v  Clinical Trials – Dr Madhu Dandapani

v  The Big Appeal for Paediatric Radiology – Dr Kath Halliday

Tea and biscuits will follow but we do need you to book and pay for these – David is supporting the Big Appeal and all food and drink payments will include a donation to that charity.  There will also be a display about the aims of the Big Appeal and a tour of the proposed imaging department.
