Dr Norman McConachie MBChB FRCR

Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Dr. Norman McConachie is President of the British Society of Neuroradiologists, the immediate past Chair of the United Kingdom Neurointerventional Group and an examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination Board in Neurosurgery.

He is the author of several book chapters and numerous scientific papers concerning craniofacial trauma, imaging of brain tumours, intracranial haemorrhage, embolisation of aneurysms, mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke and non-accidental injury in children. Dr McConachie is instructed to act as an expert witness in personal injury and clinical negligence cases in the areas of head and spinal injury, birth-related injury/cerebral palsy, interventional neuroradiology and diagnostic MRI of the brain and spine. Dr McConachie was heavily involved in the ISAT trial in 2003 which demonstrated the superiority of coiling over clipping for treating ruptured intracranial aneurysms and has worked in the development of the mechanical thrombectomy service for stroke at NUH .
